SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis did not drop a single set in the 2022 spring opener en route to a 7-0 sweep of UC Santa Cruz on Saturday under sunny skies at the Degheri Tennis Center.
All six Broncos who played picked up wins in doubles and singles action.
The Broncos (1-0) got the doubles point on wins by Guillaume Dalmasso and Arthur Neuhaus on court one and by Ryan Ali and Matthew Rodriguez on court three.
Dalmasso and Neuhaus downed Lucas Chen and Andrew Tjoa, 6-2, while Ali and Rodriguez took care of the UCSC duo of Sam Hall and Praneet Varade, 6-1, to clinch the doubles point.
In singles play, Neuhaus put the Broncos up 2-0 with his 6-0, 6-2 defeat of Reini Igna on court three, followed by Rodriguez's victory on court six over David Jackson, 6-2, 6-1.
Dalmasso clinched the Broncos team victory with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph over Andre Mardirossian on court two.
Nick Cmager, Mann Shah and Ali each earned a singles victory to complete the shutout win.
