SANTA CLARA, Calif. - A dominant singles play propelled Santa Clara men's tennis to a 4-1 West Coast Conference opening win over Saint Mary's on a sunny Friday afternoon at the Degheri Tennis Center.
After dropping the doubles point, Santa Clara (5-6, 0-0 WCC) swept the singles matches with Ryan Ali clinching it over Thibaud Maxant 6-4, 6-1 on court six.
Guillaume Dalmasso got the singles run started for the Broncos defeating James Watt, 6-2, 6-3 atop the singles lineup to even the team score at 1-all.
Arthur Neuhaus followed suit downing Mathis Moysan 6-4, 6-3 on court two, followed by Mann Shah's victory over Caelan Potts 6-4, 6-3 on court three.
Saint Mary's dropped to 3-10 overall on the season and 1-1 in conference play.
The Broncos have now won two in row after defeating Yale earlier in the week.
