SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Nick Cmager pulled out the clincher in the Santa Clara men's tennis 4-3 win over Sacramento State at the Degheri Tennis Center.
Playing on court five with the team score knotted at 3-all, Cmager needed three sets, 7-6 (9-7), 5-7, 6-1, to defeat Patrick Wong to clinch the match for the Broncos. The first two sets were tightly contested but Cmager pulled away in the third set.
The Broncos (2-0) held a 3-1 lead on three-straight singles wins by James Bell, Guillaume Dalmasso and Arthur Neuhaus after dropping the doubles point. However, the Hornets (3-1) came back on wins by Mark Keki and Rudolfs Aksenoks to tie the match up.
For Cmager, it was his second career clincher with the match tied at 3-all. He also pulled the feat against Sacramento State last season, playing Aksenoks on court five.
