ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - James Bell secured the match clincher for Santa Clara men's tennis against Grand Canyon on Saturday at the Linda Estes Tennis Center in a neutral site match in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
On court four, Bell defeated Adrien Coulome in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 with the Broncos up 3-2 on the team score. The two teams played out the match where the Broncos dropped the last match of the afternoon for the final score of 4-3.
Bell also had a hand in clinching the doubles point where he was paired with Mann Shah on court two. The Bronco duo took down Freddie Grant and Loic Van Zeggelaar 7-6 (9-7) to claim the doubles point.
Just as they did a day earlier against New Mexico, the Broncos (3-1) won the first singles match, to go up 2-0 when Guillaume Dalmasso beat Martim Marujo 6-4, 6-4 on court three. However, unlike the New Mexico match, the Broncos were able get some key singles wins to come out from the trip with a split.
Grand Canyon (0-8) got their first point winning on court six before Arthur Neuhaus put the Broncos up 3-1 with his win on court two over Freddie Grant 6-4, 6-3.
The Broncos lost the next match before Bell clinched the match for Santa Clara.
