LOS ANGELES – David Carrasco recorded seven goals and Loyola Marymount outlasted Santa Clara men's water polo, 15-9, in Thursday's Western Water Polo Association contest.
Christian Huhn, Jonny Rimlinger and Blazo Mitrovic each had two goals for the 11th-ranked Lions (7-8, 2-1) who never trailed.
Shane Hughes and Adam Low each scored three times, and Mac Carey had three assists for the Broncos (8-7, 1-2) in the opener of their two-game road trip.
After the LMU lead grew to 8-2 early in the third quarter, Low answered with a pair of goals in less than 1 minute of action.
Rimlinger scored to push the lead back to five goals though the Broncos were able to kill a pair power plays before Carrasco struck for three goals in a 4-minute span to push the advantage to 12-5.
Ryan Werner's exclusion goal cut the deficit to 13-8 with 5 minutes left in the game, but Huhn and Carrasco followed with two more insurance markers.
Jon Lien had only two saves in his one half of action in goal for the Lions but was credited with the win.
