Broncos Pick Up Two Wins On Final Day of Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. - Santa Clara men's water polo took care of business on Sunday in the final day of the Princeton Invitational. The Broncos won both of their matches on the day, first taking down Iona 17-10 before finishing their time in the Garden State with a 10-7 victory over Wagner.

Game One - Santa Clara 17, Iona 10

Sophomore Zach Fales was a force to be reckoned with, securing a career-best six goals in addition to four drawn kickouts as the Broncos cruised to their first victory of the season. Ford Eldredge chipped in a hat trick with three goals and had a pair of assists in the winning effort. Chase Raisin and Dominick Kirk had two goals apiece. Redshirt freshman Wyatt Stenson got his first collegiate action in the net and took care of business with 11 saves and a pair of steals.

Game Two - Santa Clara 10, Wagner 7

Santa Clara jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after one quarter and extended that lead to 9-2 at the half. The Broncos would go into cruise control from there as they held on for the victory. The offensive attack saw a balanced approach with nine players finding the back of the net. Caedmon Fisher was the lone scorer to record a pair of goals while Fales dished out four assists to go with one goal. Freshman Reese Jenican made the most of his first collegiate start with one goal and three kickouts drawn. Chase Zamborelli was tasked with goalkeeper duties for the third time of the tournament and was up to the task with 11 saves and one assist.

Santa Clara (2-3) will return to action at the MPSF Tournament hosted by Stanford on The Farm, Sept. 23-25.
