Broncos Split Two Games On Second Day Of MPSF Invite

STANFORD, Calif. - Santa Clara men's water polo split their two games on day two of the MPSF Invite hosted by Stanford. The Broncos began the day with a tough 13-11 loss to No. 9 San Jose State before turning things around with a big 10-5 victory over No. 16 Fordham in the afternoon. 

Game One - #9 San Jose State 13, Santa Clara 11

It was a tight back-and-forth affair throughout, but the Broncos ultimately was unable to hold off two fourth quarter Spartan goals as they dropped thier second game against SJSU in as many tries this season. The game was tied at 3-3 after the first quarter, 6-6 at the half and 10-10 heading into the fourth quarter. Ford Eldredge had a hat trick to lead the Broncos' scoring effort while Cadmon Fisher and Kyto Fraley each chipped in a pair of goals. Zach Fales dished out three assists while Chase Zamborelli came away with seven blocks. 

Game Two - Santa Clara 10, #16 Fordham 5

Santa Clara made a big bounceback in more ways than one in their second game of the day. After entering the half down 4-2, the Broncos stormed back in the third and fourth periods with a furious 8-0 run to put a clamp down on the match and secure their third victory of the season. Reese Jenican, Zach Fales and Dominick Kirk each had two goals in the winning effort while Kirk and Chase Raisin each tallied a pair of assists. Zamborelli was a force to be reckoned with in the net, coming away with 10 stops against a talented Fordham scoring attack. 

Santa Clara (3-5) will conclude their stay at the MPSF Invite tomorrow with a match against conference foe LMU. Game time is set for 10 a.m. PT.
