LOS ANGELES - No. 17 Santa Clara men's water polo gave No. 10 LMU everything they could handle, taking the contest down to the literal last second of regulation, but ultimately was unable to pull off the comeback victory over the Lions.

Trailing 7-3 at the start of the fourth quarter, the Broncos put on a furious rally as Chase Raisin scored back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to two, and Caedmon Fisher cut the gap to one on a powerplay goal with just 31 seconds remaining. Santa Clara then forced a turnover and called a timeout to set up one final shot at the tying score. With just one second remaining, it was Zach Fales who fired off the final attempt to the net, however his shot was pulled down by the LMU goalkeeper to clinch the match at 7-6.

Fales and Raisin led the team with their two goals while Bennett Stafford came away a team-best two steals. Chase Zamborelli played the entirety of the minutes in the net, finishing the game 10 saves.
