Balanced Attack Leads Broncos to Victory over Concordia

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's water polo imposed their will on Concordia with a 19-3 victory over the Golden Eagles on Saturday afternoon at the Sullivan Aquatic Center. The Broncos excelled in all areas of the game with a season-high 19 points and season-best three goals allowed.

The Broncos (9-12, 2-4) were dominant from start to finish, first jumping out to a 6-1 lead at the end of the first quarter and increasing the advantage to 11-2 at the half. The suffocating defense performed even better in the second half, allowing just one goal over the final 16 minutes of action. Chase Zamborelli and Wyatt Stenson both saw time in the goal and combined for 14 blocks in the winning effort.

Santa Clara's offense saw a balanced approach with 15 different players scoring at least one goal. Four players (Zach Fales, Billy Barry, Dominick Kirk and Reese Jenican) finished with two goals to lead the attack. Bennett Stafford came away with a team-high two assists to go with one goal and two draw exclusions while Max Hendrickson held the team lead for steals with three on the afternoon.

With the win, the Broncos are now 2-4 in WWPA play with two regular-season games remaining on the schedule. Both games will be played at home with the first coming on Friday, Nov. 4, against Air Force at 1:30 p.m. Santa Clara will then host the regular-season finale against Fresno Pacific on Saturday, Nov. 5, in what will be the Broncos' senior day.
