Nonconference Play Concludes for Women's Basketball Against Grand Canyon

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After three in a row on the road, Santa Clara women's basketball returns to Leavey Center to face Grand Canyon Thursday at 2 p.m. in the nonconference finale.

The Broncos got back in the win column with a 62-56 win at San Jose State on Saturday.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 0-1 all-time against Grand Canyon with the only meeting coming last year. The Lopes won the matchup at home.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (6-4) is scoring 58.5 points per game while shooting 38.7-percent from the field. The Broncos defense is forcing 15.8 turnovers per game and picking 7.7 steals per game as well.

Tia Hay is scoring a team-high 13.4 ppg while also leading the way with 2.4 assists per game and 2.1 steals per game. Ashlyn Herlihy is second with 10.8 ppg, 7.0 rebounds per game, and 2.1 apg. Emily Wolph has hit a team-best 15 3-pointers and is scoring 7.7 ppg while dishing out 2.0 apg. Lauren Yearwood is tied for fourth in the country with 3.0 blocks per game and leads Santa Clara with 7.1 rpg while scoring 5.5 ppg.

THE LOPES
Grand Canyon (2-7) is allowing 66.8 ppg while scoring 58.8 pg. The Lopes are shooting 44.5-percent from the field and 38.1-percent from beyond the arc but are turning the ball over 18.2 times per game.

ShaRon Miller scores 10.3 ppg and grabs 6.2 rpg to lead the team. Laura Piera is second in the team with 9.9 ppg and leads with 4.9 apg. Venal Varis has been the best outside shooter with 21 3-pointers and is scoring 8.7 ppg. Taylor Caldwell scores 9.3 ppg and adds 3.4 apg as well.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to tipoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
