Women's Basketball Continues WCC Play Against San Diego

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball hosts San Diego Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. to conclude the opening weekend of West Coast Conference action.

The Broncos began the WCC season with a 54-44 loss against BYU Saturday.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 34-40 all-time against San Diego with the first meeting coming in 1984-85. Both teams picked up a win on their home court last season.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (7-5, 0-1 WCC) is allowing just 59.9 points per game this season to help pick up the slack for an offense that struggles to score at times. The Broncos are shooting 38.9-percent from the floor as a team while scoring 58.7 ppg.

Tia Hay leads the team with 13.6 ppg, 2.8 assists per game, and 2.1 steals per game. Ashlyn Herlihy is second in both scoring (10.0 ppg) and rebounding (6.8 pg) with Lauren Yearwood bringing down a team-high 7.3 rebounds per game with 6.3 ppg. Yearwood is 10th nationally with 2.8 blocks per game and Emily Wolph leads Santa Clara in 3-pointers made.

THE TOREROS
San Diego (7-5, 0-1 WCC) scores 67.0 ppg on 41.6-percent shooting from the field and 33.0-poercent from beyond the arc while allowing opponents to score 68.3 ppg on 43.9-percent shooting.

Patricia Brossmann leads the team with 12.4 ppg and 7.5 rpg while adding 3.9 apg and 3.0 steals per game as well. Madison Pollock is scoring 10.0 ppg with 5.3 rpg and Sydney Hunter scores 9.7 with the same rebound average. Myah Pace's 5.0 apg leads the conference and she is scoring 9.3 ppg to go with 5.8 rpg and 3.0 spg.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to tipoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
