STANFORD, Calif. - Santa Clara beach volleyball dropped two neutral site matches on Saturday, 4-1 to Long Beach State and 5-0 to Cal Poly at the Beach Volleyball Stadium on the campus of Stanford.
Match 1: Long Beach State 4 – Santa Clara 1
Long Beach State (11-10) won in straight sets at the No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 1 positions with the match clincher by Christine DeRoos and Sophie Major over Alexia Gallegos and Jordan Bennett, 21-16, 21-18, at No. 5.
The Broncos (6-12) picked up their lone point at No. 3 where Casey Campbell and Alexie Epstein defeated Holland Jackson and Nicci Reinking in three sets, 17-21, 21-13, 15-8.
Match 2: Cal Poly 5 – Santa Clara 0
Cal Poly (15-10) did not drop a set in any of the positions as Piper Naess and Josie Ulrich clinched it at No. 5 over Jordan Bennett and Alexia Gallegos 21-7, 21-10.
The second set at No. 4 between Vanessa Roscoe and Sam Strah versus Elena Radeff and Claire Doud ended up 30-28 in favor for the Cal Poly pair. The Mustangs duo took the first set 21-12.
Santa Clara dropped to 6-13 on the season.
