SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis had a strong first day at the Hidden Dual Tournament co-hosted by Santa Clara and San Jose State, picking up five singles and three doubles wins at the Degheri Tennis Center on Friday.
Finley Kalinic, Katherine Petty, Giulia Hayer and Jamie Schroer each won both their singles and doubles matches. Velizara Fileva only participated in the singles portion, winning her match against Jenna Dorian of CSUN, 6-2, 6-2. Varya Zlotnik saw action in just the doubles match, teaming up with Jamie Schroer to take down San Francisco's Azaria Hayes and Alicie Yue, 6-2.
In singles play, the Broncos primarily played against the players from CSUN, dropping just one match. The match results only count for the individuals and not against the team record in a hidden dual format.
Santa Clara's three doubles teams each won their matches against the San Francisco doubles group. Kacey Feng teamed up with Nevada's Mathilde Sacrcelet and fell 6-4 against CSUN's Jacqueline O'Neill and Dorian.
