NOTES

  • Santa Clara finished the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 4-8 record, matching the number of wins it had before starting conference play last season.
  • The Broncos are 0-3 in West Coast Conference openers under head coach Erin Lindsey (since 2019). They are 0-8 in conference openers since 2014. Two of those conference-opening defeats were on the road at San Francisco (2014, 2018)
  • The Broncos won their season-opening match on Aug. 26 versus Chattanooga and are now 2-2 all-time in season openers under Lindsey. They are also 5-5 in season-opening tournaments since 2019
  • Sophomore setter Nive Tuileta's next assist will give her 1,400 for her career. She enters Friday's match against the Dons with 1,399 career assists, 193 back of 10th on the Santa Clara volleyball all-time top-10 list. Lindsy Davigeadono totaled 1,592 career assists with the Broncos from 2006-09.
  • Other Broncos on the hunt for the record books include Julia Sangiacomo, who with 1,245 career kills is only 23 from 10th on the all-time list. Kat Georgiadis' career 3.27 digs per set average currently ranks No. 7 all-time, though her 671 career digs are still 461 short of making the all-time top-10 list.
  • Santa Clara was picked fifth in the West Coast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll with 45 points, ahead of Pacific (6th, 42 points), Saint Mary's (7th, 37), Gonzaga (8th, 26), Portland (9th, 17) and San Francisco (10th, 9).
  • The Broncos return 12 players from last year's roster, including three-time all-WCC honoree Julia Sangiacomo, who was selected to the 2022 Preseason All-WCC First Team on Aug. 24.
  • Head coach Erin Lindsey is in her fourth season with the Broncos in 2022. Friday's win over Tarleton was the 96th of her career as an NCAA head coach, leaving her only four victories away from her 100th career win.
