FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The Santa Clara University volleyball team will get a chance to continue its hot streak that concluded the 2022 regular season, as it will make its second postseason appearance in the last four years with a bid to the 2022 National Invitational Volleyball Championship.
The Broncos (12-18, 8-10 West Coast Conference) will travel to the Pacific Northwest to face host Portland State (18-11, 11-5 Big Sky Conference) at 7 p.m. Friday in the first round of the 32-team tournament. The winner of that match will face the winner of Pacific and Omaha at 7 p.m. Saturday in the second round. The full tournament bracket can be found here.
It is Santa Clara's third appearance all-time in the NIVC and 19th postseason appearance overall in program history. The Broncos first appeared in the NIVC in 1991, then made another appearance in the reincarnated version of the tournament in 2019. Santa Clara head coach Erin Lindsey has now taken the team to the postseason in two of her four years at the helm of the program.

Santa Clara concluded the regular season at 12-18 and 8-10 in WCC play, finishing fifth in the conference standings – right behind four teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament. It's the second season in a row and third in Lindsey's tenure that the Broncos have won at least 12 matches in a season. It's also the second time during Lindsey's tenure Santa Clara has finished among the conference's top-five (also in 2019).
