Lindsey Picks Up 100th Career Victory As Broncos Blank Gonzaga

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara volleyball was dominant from start to finish on Saturday, defeating Gonzaga 3-0 with scores of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-15. The victory was career No. 100 for head coach Erin Lindsey, who is in her fourth year at the helm of the program. 

The Broncos (8-12, 4-4) opened the contest with a convincing 25-13 win in the opening set, but Gonzaga put up a fight in the second set. The Bulldogs led 12-9 before Santa Clara quickly tied things up at 13-13. The teams exchanged blows for the remainder of the set, but the Broncos were able to break ahead by scoring four of the last five points of the match to win 25-22. Game three was yet another dominating set for the home squad as they locked up their fourth conference win of the season. 

Santa Clara hit .342 percent while holding Gonzaga to .130. The Broncos also held the advantage with seven aces to the Bulldogs' three. 

Julia Sangiacomo led all players with 20 kills, her fifth 20-kill game of the year and first in WCC play. Nive Tuileta had 42 assists while Nani Spaar and Layla Truitt each tallied 11 kills. 

Gonzaga (4-15, 0-8) got the majority of their production from Zoe Thiros, who posted 14 kills and nine digs.

The Broncos will look to extend their win streak at home against Pacific on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 6:00 p.m.
