Day 1: Bronco Tennis Advances Everyone in ITA Regional Tournament

ITA REGIONAL DAY 1 October 21, 2011

SEATTLE, WASH. – The Santa Clara University's men's tennis team started off its season by winning four matches, advancing all three participating Broncos to the round of 32 in the ITA Regional Tournament in Seattle, Wash.

Sophomore John Lamble picked up Santa Clara's first victory of the season in the first round of the tournament.  Lamble defeated Olivier Jamin of Gonzaga by winning the first set 5-3 before Jamin retired due to injury. In his second match of the day, Lamble won in three sets (6-4;6-7(4); 6-4) to advance to the third round.

Kyle Dandan and Tom Pham received first-round byes.  In the round of 64, Dandan defeated Eastern Washington's James Russell in straight-sets (6-3; 6-3) to advance to the third round.

Also in the round of 64, Pham battled Jeff Hawke of the hosting University of Washington and Pham won in three sets (7-5; 5-7; 6-0) to move into third round.

Saturday, in the second day of action, all three Broncos have singles matches. Dandan and Pham are also scheduled to open up doubles play at 2:00 p.m.
