IRVINE, Calif.- The No. 37 Santa Clara men's tennis program started a two-match weekend with a dominant 7-0 victory over UC Irvine. The Broncos swept through the Anteaters, shutting Irvine out in both singles and doubles play.
In the No. 1 singles spot, senior Kyle Dandan downed Sam Gould in straight sets. Ranked No. 106 in the ITA singles rankings, Dandan has won two straight matches.
John Lamble, Nico Vinel and Tom Pham all won in straight sets. In the No. 5 spot, Ilya Osintsev held on to win 7-6, 0-6, 1-0 (4). Eugene Muchynski finished out the singles portion with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
Santa Clara breezed through doubles play with three victory. Osintsev and Lamble teamed up for a 8-4 victories. The tandem of Dandan and Pham pulled out a 8-7 (3) win. Kyohhei Kamono and Vinel closed out the 7-0 victory with a 8-4 match.
The Broncos continue their weekend in Southern California on Sunday against No. 50 UCSB at 11 a.m.
