FORT WORTH, Texas- The No. 48 Santa Clara (5-2) men's tennis squad pulled out a come-from-behind upset victory over No. 44 TCU in a marathon match that lasted six hours. The win wrapped up a two-game sweep over Texas schools this weekend for the Broncos.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first two singles matches, the Broncos won four-straight singles matches to secure the victory. After dropping two early matches, Nicolas Vinel picked up a Bronco victory in the No. 3 singles spot. He defeated Daniel Sanchez 6-3, 6-7, 6-4.
The singles portion was highlighted by junior Tom Pham, who continued his seven-match winning streak. Pham defeated Facundo Lugones in a three-set battle 7-5, 2-6, 6-4.
Ilya Osintsev and Eugene Muchynski also picked up victories for the Broncos.
Despite TCU's two doubles victories, the Broncos held on to win the match 4-3 and complete their Texas sweep.
Santa Clara continues its road swing next weekend in Las Vegas, Nev. against the University of Utah in a neural site match on Saturday and then the Broncos will play at UNLV on Sunday.
