No. 43 Broncos Trounce Pacific 7-0

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - After a tough loss on Friday, the No. 43 Santa Clara men's tennis team got back on track with a decisive 7-0 victory over Pacific on Sunday afternoon in Santa Clara. The Broncos victory was capped by a clean sweep in singles play and junior Tom Pham's continuing his 11-match winning streak. 

"I liked the way we responded after a tough loss on Friday," said Santa Clara head coach Derek Mills. "To come out and win 7-0 against a very solid team is a step in the right direction."

Santa Clara eased through singles play, winning all six singles matches. Senior Kyle Dandan got the Broncos going with a come-from-behind win, defeating Ivan Garcia Castro 3-6, 6-3, 1-0(10). Senior Nicolas Vinel and John Lamble picked up wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectivley.

In the No. 4 singles spot, the red-hot Tom Pham continued his perfect spring with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Pham moves to 11-0 this spring, 12-1 overall.

Ilya Osintsev and Eugene Muchynski also picked up singles wins for Santa Clara.

In doubles, the Broncos took two of three for the clean sweep. The tandem of Osintsev and Lamble picked up a doubles victory along with the duo of Dandan and Pham.
