by Brandon Rebboah

SEATTLE, Wash.- The Santa Clara men's tennis team was unable to advance any competitors into the fourth day of the ITA Regional Tournament. The two remaining Broncos fell in the round of 16, as did the only doubles duo entered. In their first tournament of the 2011-12 season the Broncos finished with a 6-3 record in singles and a 1-1 recond in doubles play.

Entering the third day, the Broncos had two players left competing in singles: senior Kyle Dandan and sophomore John Lamble.

Senior Kyle Dandan fell in the round of 16 to fourth-seeded Nick Andrews of Cal. Dandan battled hard, but ultimately fell 3-6; 7-5; 6-7(10-8). The ninth-seeded Dandan finished the tournament with two wins.

Lamble also fell in the round of 16 to second-seeded Kyle McMorrow of Washington. The Bronco sophomore lost in three sets (6-4; 1-6; 3-6) and finished the tournament with three wins.

In doubles, the Broncos only doubles tandem of Pham and Danden lost in the round of 16 to a duo from Stanford 9-7.

"I'm disappointed we were not playing on the last day of the tournament," said Santa Clara head coach Derek Mills. "We played well in spurts and that gives us something to build on."

The Broncos next tournament is the Gael Classic in Moraga, Calif. beginning on Fri., Oct. 28.

Be sure to come back early in the week for a video recap with Bronco head coach Derek Mills.
