No. 31 Broncos Fall to No. 7 Pepperdine

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Coming off a 6-1 victory over LMU, No. 31 Santa Clara (15-4; 2-1) dropped its first West Coast Conference match of the year to No. 7 Pepperdine 6-1. Despite the loss, freshman Ilya Osintsev shined on the individual level. Osintsev accounted for both Santa Clara victories.

In singles, No. 7 Pepperdine used its three top-75 ITA ranked singles players to pick up five wins in singles play. In the No. 5 spot, Osintsev downed Jensen Turner in straight sets to avoid the singles sweep.

Although Pepperdine picked up two doubles victories, Osintsev and sophomore John Lamble teamed up for a 7-5 victory over a ranked opponent. Lamble and Osintsev upset No. 2 Alex Llompart and Finn Tearney 7-5.

The Broncos battle USF this Wed., Apr. 4 at the Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif. then return home to battle Cal Poly on Sat., Apr. 7 at 10 a.m.
