SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The No. 29 Santa Clara men's tennis squad came out of a two-match day unblemished, downing both Idaho and Sonoma State 7-0. The Broncos improve to 13-3. Santa Clara has bested five of its last six opponents 7-0.

Against Idaho, Kyle Dandan started the Broncos off with a commanding 6-4, 6-1 victory over Marius Cirstea. Dandan, the nation's No. 106 singles player has won five straight matches for the Broncos.

John Lamble continued his excellent play in the No. 2 spot with a 6-4, 7-6 win.

Senior Nico Vinel battled with Cristobal Ramos Salazar for three sets. Vinel picked up the first set, but Ramos Salazar hung tough and won the second set. The Bronco senior came out on top, winning the third set 6-3.

Also in singles play, Eugene Muchynski grabbed his sixth-straight victory. Tom Pham continued his red-hot match play for Santa Clara, downing Jose Bendeck. Freshman Ilya Osintsev had an impressive win over Idaho's all-time singles wins leader, Alan Shin.

"I like the way our team came out and had high energy and a very determined attitude," said Santa Clara head coach Derek Mills.

In the doubles portion, the Broncos swept the Vandals. Osintsev and Lamble got things started before the duos of Pham/Dandan and Kamono/Vinel finished up things for Santa Clara.

In the second dual match of the day, Santa Clara overpowered Sonoma State 7-0. Dandan was given some rest and replaced in the No. 1 spot by John Lamble who downed Matt Roberts 6-1, 6-0.

Vinel played in the No. 2 spot and easily picked up a victory followed by wins from Osintsev and Muchynski.

Kyohhei Kamono, who played against Idaho in the doubles portion, was given an opportunity to play in the No. 6 spot. Kamono won 6-2, 6-2 to tally his fifth singles win of the season.
