LOS ANGELES - The No. 31 Santa Clara men's tennis squad started its two-match weekend on the road with a commanding win at Loyola Marymount. The Broncos (15-3; 2-0) downed the Lions 6-1 in Santa Clara's first of two WCC matches in Southern California this weekend.
Kyle Dandan and John Lamble both notched wins in straight sets. In the No. 4 spot, Tom Pham continued his impressive junior campaign by defeating Felix Van Kann 7-5, 6-1.
Ilya Osintsev clung to a three-set win over Nick Northcutt before Eugene Muchynski finished off singles play with a 6-4, 6-4 victory. Muchynski has won 13 of his last 14 contests.
In doubles, Santa Clara picked up the point by winning two of three matches. Osintsev and Lamble teamed up for a 8-3 win before Muchynski and Nicolas Vinel finished off the dual match with a 8-5 win.
The Broncos continue their Southern California weekend Sunday. Santa Clara travels from Los Angeles, Calif. to nearby Malibu, Calif. to face No. 7 Pepperdine at 10:30 a.m.
