Bronco Men's Water Polo Drops Two On First Day Of SoCal Invitational

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Santa Clara University men's water polo (9-7; 3-1 WWPA) fell to No. 3 Cal on Saturday on the first day of the annual SoCal Invitational. In the afternoon the Broncos lost a close game with Loyola Marymount by a score of 11-10. Despite putting up eight goals for the game the Broncos lost by a score of 16-8.

In the first game Santa Clara was led by Theo Nasser, Brett Zylstra, James Case and Tucker Carlson. Each player scored two goals a piece to account for the Broncos' eight goals. Michael Wishart had six blocks to bring his total on the season to 146. This leaves him 101 saves shy of setting the all-time Santa Clara record.

In its second game of the day Santa Clara fell to Loyola Marymount. Nasser scored a team-high four goals and Wishart picked up 12 move saves. Despite the strong performances Santa Clara was unable to pick up the win and fell by a score of 11-10.

The Broncos will return to the pool tomorrow for the second day of the SoCal Invitational. The times and opponents will depend on the outcome of other games.
