Santa Clara Falls To No. 11 UC San Diego; Will Play Consolation Game Sunday

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Fourteenth ranked Santa Clara men's water polo (17-16; 8-5 WWPA) fell to No. 11 UC San Diego in the semifinals of the Western Water Polo Association Championships on Sat. by a score of 10-2. Santa Clara was only down 2-1 but UC San Diego scored eight unanswered goals to put the game away.

The Broncos had a tough day on offense, only scoring two times. Both goals were scored by Daley Meistrell and came in the first and fourth quarters. Senior Michael Wishart added six saves on the day.

The Tritons were led by Graham Saber who had three goals in the third quarter and four for the game. Goalkeeper David Morton recorded an impressive 14 blocks for the game.

The Broncos wrap-up their season on Sun., Nov. 20 against No. 10 LMU at 12:30 p.m. The winner of the game will finish third in the conference while the loser will finish in fourth place.
