Four Men's Water Polo Players Honored By WWPA

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Getting ready to enter its conference tournament as the No. 3 seed, Santa Clara men's water polo (16-16; 7-5 WWPA) had four players honored by the Western Water Polo Association. The Broncos will play in the WWPA Championships from Nov. 17 through Nov. 20. Santa Clara's first game will be at 3 p.m. on Fri., Nov. 18 against the winner of Thursday's game between seventh-seeded Claremont and 10th-seeded Whittier.

Senior driver James Case was named First-Team All-WWPA for a season in which he was second on the Bronco team with 38 goals and 36 assists. He also had 25 steals and drew 27 kick outs.

Named to the Second-Team All-WWPA, senior goalkeeper Michael Wishart set the Santa Clara all-time record for career blocks and recorded 289 for the season. He added 21 assists and 17 steals while starting all 31 games.

Senior driver Daley Meistrell received honorable mention from the WWPA for scoring 17 goals and adding 43 assists. His three assists against UC Davis on Oct. 9 put him alone atop the Santa Clara all-time assists list. Meistrell also had 32 steals and 21 kick outs drawn.

Mark Davis was honored by being a part of the WWPA All-Freshman Team. In his rookie season he scored 15 goals with 12 assists and 16 steals. He also drew eight kick outs.
