SANTA CLARA, Calif. - On Seniors Day, the No. 15 Santa Clara men's water polo (15-13; 3-3 WWPA) fell to No. 7 Pacific by a score of 11-5. Seniors Marcus Akerland, Brett Zylstra and James Case all had a goal each and senior goalkeeper Michael Wishart continued is impressive season in goal.
"I thought Pacific came out strong and we had a tough time with them in the first quarter but we played a lot better the next three quarters," said Santa Clara head coach Keith Wilbur. "As a team we have to start off the game stronger and come out looking better in the first quarter. I think if we can start off stronger we will give ourselves a better chance to win."
On offense the Broncos got single goals from Akerland, Zylstra, Case, Theo Nasser and Tucker Carlson. Akerland added an assist, a steal and drew three kick outs while Case had an assist and drew a kick out as well. Wishart recorded eight blocks to add to his all-time Santa Clara record.
The Broncos return to the pool on Fri., Nov. 4 at UC San Diego at 6 p.m., Sat., Nov. 5 at LMU at 1 p.m. and Sun., Nov. 6 at Chapman at Noon. All three games are Western Water Polo Association match-ups.
