Softball Travels to Utah Valley for Last PCSC Road Games

Santa Clara, Calif. - Santa Clara Softball hits the road one last time for PCSC games at Utah Valley, April 27-28. First pitch for the two-day doubleheaders is set for 11 a.m. PT on both days. 

Santa Clara, (6-39 overall, 3-13 PCSC) is looking to snap a nine-game losing skid, dating back to the Broncos 6-3 win at CSU Bakersfield on April 7. 

Junior outfielder Stephanie Fisher is batting .349 on the season, with 44 hits, 16 runs and 13 RBI. The Tracy, Calif. native has a team-leading 12 multi-hit games. 

Casandra Padilla appeared in three of the four games against BYU and holds a .300 batting average on the season. In 60 at-bats, she has notched 18 hits, eight runs and eight RBI. She ties Fisher with three home-runs apiece. 

Kelly Scribner and Jordan Newell have combined for 14 runs on 54 hits, with 13 RBI.

"We played three tough games vs. BYU where the score was 3-0," said head coach Lisa Mize. "Defensively, we were fine and our pitching was good. Now, we just need our bats to come alive. Our focus in that area needs to improve."

In the circle for the Broncos, freshman Ciara Gonzales boasts a 4.61 ERA, scattering 98 hits and 62 runs while striking out 24. 

Utah Valley, who needs three wins to notch their second straight 30-win season, stands at 27-17 overall, 9-7 in PCSC. The Wolverines are led by shortstop Krystin Jachim, who has a team-high 17 multi-hit games. She owns a .391 batting average, with 50 hits, 19 runs and 28 RBI. Amanda Robinson is second on the team with a .370 batting average. She has 51 hits, 21 runs and 24 RBI.

Tiffany Mills leads Utah Valley in the circle, boasting a 1.96 ERA. She has allowed 128 hits and 62 runs. 

The Wolverines are 19-1 when leading after six innings, and 9-5 in one-run games.
