Pullman, Washington – The Santa Clara women's tennis team sustained its first loss of the season today to No. 72 Washington State 4-3. The Broncos are 6-1 on the season and 1-0 in the WCC.
Santa Clara put up a fight at the No. 1 and 2 doubles positions, as well as the No. 1 singles position, but the Cougars secured the match with the remaining matches to win 4-3.
"Washington is a great team and it was a great match, but we came up a little bit short," said Coach Cabell. "We are hoping to bounce back against Gonzaga tomorrow."
The Broncos take on Gonzaga tomorrow on the Washington State campus at 3:00 p.m.
