Pullman, Washington – The Santa Clara women's tennis team defeated WCC opponent Gonzaga by a score of 5-2 today in Pullman, Washington. The Broncos are 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the WCC.
The Broncos dropped the double point to the Zags, but rallied with five singles wins to post a team victory.
Coach Cabell on the Win: "It's always good to get a solid conference win. We had to overcome some adversity today because Maggie [McGeorge] got sick and couldn't play in doubles or singles, but the girls did well without her. That is one of the positives of haivng a strong and deep team, and they stepped up big today.
The Broncos will wrap up their Washington road trip with a match against Kansas tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.
Coach Cabell on Kansas: "We are on the end of a long trip, and we've been playing well, so this will be a true test of our abilities. Kansas is a tough team and we've got to go through teams like them to get where we want to go, and we are looking forward to the match."
