SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara University men's basketball player Mitch Henke was named a honorable mention member of the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association Scholar-Athlete Team today in recognition of his success on the basketball team and his excellence in the classroom at Santa Clara. Henke helped the Broncos to their best season since 1995-96 this past season. The team posted a 21-10 record and finished second in the West Coast Conference with a 10-4 record. He also has a cumulative 3.76 GPA as a finance major.
Henke earned a 3.89 GPA in the winter quarter at SCU and now has a 3.76 GPA for his career as a finance major. On the court, Henke played in 30 games, starting 13 and averaging 21 minutes a contest. For the season, he scored 6.9 points per game, while grabbing 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. The native of Minnetonka, Minn. scored a season high 17 points in the Broncos game at Kentucky on Dec. 19.
Henke was previously named a member of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII team, while earning WCC Winter All-Academic honors. In 2006, Henke was a member of the WCC All-Academic team and he is also a two-time member of the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
