Santa Clara, Calif. - The Santa Clara University athletic department announced the 2006-07 television schedules for men's and women's basketball today. The men will appear on television 11 times this season, while the women will make one appearance. Locally, Santa Clara partnered with Comcast SportsNet to bring fans seven games in 2006-07. The men's team will also appear once on Fox Sports Net, once on ESPN2, twice on ESPNU and one time on College Sports Television (CSTV).
"We are very proud to give our fans such a comprehensive television package this season," said Director of Athletics and Recreation Dan Coonan. "Along with excellent coverage nationally on ESPN, we will give our followers one of the best regional packages that we have had in recent years. We are also glad to continue working with Comcast Sports Net this season to provide high-quality regional broadcasts."
The men's basketball team made their first appearance on Comcast SportsNet on Monday night against California and will make five more appearances on the station, beginning with their game at Pacific on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 7:00 p.m. PT. Other games on Comcast are Jan. 6 against Saint Mary's, Jan. 20 at San Diego, Jan. 22 at San Francisco and Feb. 3 at Saint Mary's. All the games on Comcast will be televised live with the exception of the game at San Diego, which will air at a yet-to-be determined time on tape delay.
The women's basketball team will make their lone television appearance of 2006-07 on Sunday, Feb. 18 as they take on the University of San Francisco at 2:00 p.m. PT on Comcast SportsNet.
"We're extremely pleased that we are increasing our coverage of Santa Clara this year," said Comcast SportsNet West General Manager Larry Eldridge. "With seven appearances on our telecast schedule, the Broncos are a major component in our expanded coverage of West Coast Conference basketball in 2006-07."
On the ESPN family of networks, the Broncos will make three appearances; Jan. 29 versus Pepperdine at 8:00 p.m. and Feb. 5 versus San Francisco at 8:00 p.m. on ESPNU and Feb. 12 at Gonzaga on ESPN2.
Santa Clara will appear once on Fox Sports Net on Jan. 13 against Gonzaga in a game that will be played at the Leavey Center at 8:00 p.m., while also making one appearance on CSTV. The Bronco's game at Loyola Marymount on Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. will be aired on CSTV.
