SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's golf team opened the spring season with two rounds at the Carson Daly Invitational, hosted by West Coast Conference rival Loyola Marymount at the Robinson Ranch Golf Club in Santa Clarita.

Santa Clara carded a 294-297--591 after two rounds on Monday, and sit in third place, 23 strokes over par. Holy Names University leads the nine-team field with a 15-over 583. Grand Canyon University is just one stroke back for second place. Cal State Northridge is one stroke behind the Broncos for fourth place, and Utah Valley State rounds out the top five with a 29-over 597.

Jong Yoon is currently tied for ninth place to lead the Bronco quintet. He carded a 73-71--144, for a two-over-par 144 on the par-71, 6,508-yard course. Teammate Jonathan Edwards is just one stroke behind Yoon, in a four-way tie for 11th place after posting rounds of 70 and 75.

Eric Lillibridge and Matt Klenz are among five players tied at 29th place with nine-over 151s. Both carded rounds of 75 and 76. Michael Nicoletti rounds out the Bronco contingent after carding a 76-77--153, 11 over and good for 36th place.

UCLA's Kevin Chappell and Grand Canyon's Jason Galon lead all individuals after both carded three-under par 139s. CS Northridge's Doug Miller is third with the only other under-par total for the day, just one stroke behind the leaders.

The Invitational's final round will tee off at 7 a.m. on Tuesday.
