STANFORD, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's golf team closed out the 2005 season by placing 17th at U.S. Intercollegiate, presented by the Maple Fund and hosted by Stanford University.

The event was hosted at the Stanford Golf Course, a par-71 layout playing 6,786 yards. Santa Clara navigated the course in 912 strokes, including an 11-stroke improvement in today's final round. The team was led by sophomore Jong Yoon, who tied for 39th with a 73-77-73--223, 13 strokes over par. Senior Jonathan Edwards (78-77-72) finished four strokes back at 222 to tie for 65th. Senior Matt Klenz followed with a 77-78-75--230 to tie for 81st. Senior John Colyar tied for 83rd, just two strokes behind Klenz with a 79-76-77--232. Chris DeMartini rounded out the Bronco scorecard tying for 90th place with an 82-82-80--244.

USC won the team competition with an 846, six strokes over par and 17 strokes ahead of San Diego State. Fresno State, UCLA and Stanford rounded out the top five.

Arizona State's Pat Moore earned individual medalist honors with a two-under 71-70-69--208, besting three golfers that finished one stroke back.
