OAHU, Hawaii - The Santa University men's golf team improved its standing by five places despite windy conditions during the second round at the UH/Turtle Bay Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Hawaii at the Links at Turtle Bay Resort on the island of Oahu. The Broncos had three players record rounds in the 60s as the squad posted a nine-under 279, the third best team round of the day, and good for sixth place overall.

Jong Yoon vaulted into the top 10 with his five-under 67. He is currently in sixth place with a two-day 140. Teammates Michael Nicoletti and John Colyar are also in the top-25 individually, as both carded 69s. Nicoletti is tied for 17th at an even-par 144 and Colyar is tied for 25th with a one-over 145.

Jonathan Edwards and Kellen Moss both improved on yesterday's round by one stroke. Edwards carded a 74 and has a 149 total, and Moss posted a 77 for a 155 two-day score.

"We've been focusing our fall play on not beating ourselves," head coach John Kennaday said after today's round. "We've been making progress toward that all year and it's nice to see some of that come to fruition."

Today's action was played on the George Fazio Course, a par-72, 6,535-yard layout. Combined with yesterday's 299, the Broncos have a two-day total of 578, just two strokes over par. Kennaday added that today's 279 is the lowest team score the Broncos have posted during his tenure.

UNLV remains in the lead in the 19-team competition, with a 12-under 564. Host Hawaii moved up to second and is three strokes off the lead. UC Riverside is in third at eight under, Oregon State is fourth at even par, and West Coast Conference rival Saint Mary's is one stroke ahead of the Broncos for fifth place.

Wednesday's final round will return to the Arnold Palmer Course, a par-72, 6,535-yard layout. Action will begin with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
