Men's Golf in Fifth at Countrywide Intercollegiate

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's golf team is tied for fifth place after the first round of action at the Bill Cullum/Countrywide Intercollegiate, hosted by Cal State Northridge at the Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley. Four Broncos are in the top 25 individually.

Jong Yoon carded a one-under-par 71and is currently tied for 12th to lead the Broncos. Teammate Blair Myers is one stroke back, tied for 16th at even par. Jonathan Edwards and Eric Lillibridge are tied for 25th at one-over. Lillibridge is competing as an individual.

John Colyar is at four-over and Michael Nicoletti carded a 79 to round out the Broncos' first round scorecards.

As a team, Santa Clara carded a 292 in today's round, which was played on the par-72, 6,753-yard layout. Only four strokes over par, the Broncos are tied with Southern Utah. Saint Mary's leads the 15-team field at 10-under and Weber State is in second at two-under. Utah State and UC Santa Barbara are also ahead of Santa Clara.

The second round was not completed due to darkness. The teams will complete that round Tuesday morning and then immediately follow the third and final round.
