SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's golf team finished the fall season strong, placing second at the Bill Cullum/Countrywide Intercollegiate, hosted by Cal State Northridge at the Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley.

Santa Clara carded a 292-285-292--869 to earn the team's third straight top-five finish. The three-day total is believed to be one of the lowest in head coach John Kennaday's tenure. The Broncos' total was just five strokes over par. West Coast Conference rival Saint Mary's earned the team victory, besting the 15-squad field by 24 strokes with a 19-under 845.

Sophomore Jong Yoon earned his third straight fourth-place finish. He navigated three rounds on the par-72, 6,753-yard course with a 213, three strokes under par.

Jonathan Edwards also placed in the top 25, tying for 19th with a three-over 219. John Colyar tied for 26th at 221 and Michael Nicoletti was in 37th with a 223. Blair Myers rounds out the Bronco scorecard by placing 49th with a 226.

Eric Lillibridge was competing as an individual, but withdrew from the tournament during the third round.

Although the Broncos played two rounds on Monday, three squads were not able to complete play due to darkness. Once results were tallied, the Broncos had improved their round by seven strokes to vault from fifth place into place heading into today's final round, where they held off third-place finisher Weber State by two strokes.

The Broncos have now concluded their fall season and will not return to action until mid-February, when they take part in the Pala Mesa Invitational, hosted at the Pala Mesa Golf Resort in Temecula.
