NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's golf team had a rough first day at the Anteater Invitational at the Big Canyon Country Club in Newport Beach, Calif. After a first round combined score of 320, the Broncos knocked ten strokes off in the second round and are in ninth place with a combined score of 630 heading into Tuesday's final round.
Kellen Moss is the leader for Santa Clara, after bouncing back from an opening round of 82 to shoot an even-par 72 in the second round. Moss is currently tied for 20th place. Tim Lynch sits just a stroke behind Moss, after opening rounds of 81 and 74.
But for Moss and Lynch's improved second rounds, it was a tough day. Senior and co-captain Jong Yoon finished with uncharacteristic rounds of 78 and 82, and Jonathan Keane finished just a shot behind Yoon with rounds of 79 and 82. Eric Lillibridge improved upon his first round of 86 with a second round 82.
Weather permitting, the final round of the Anteater Invitational gets underway Tuesday morning.
