CHOUDRANT, La. -Heavy rain and thunderstorms in the gulf coast region prevented the start of play at the Squirecreek Invitational Monday morning.
The weather forecast shows heavy rain and thunderstorms continuing throughout the afternoon Monday, including a flash flood watch, downgrading to scattered thunderstorms this evening, and isolated thundershowers overnight. If Tuesday's party cloudy forecast holds up, the tournament plans to resume and Santa Clara could play as many as 27 holes on Tuesday, beginning sometime before noon local time.
A major concern will be the condition of the course. Not only will the deteriorating weather be a concern over the next 24 hours, but also the ability of the grounds-crew at Squire Creek Country Club to prepare the course for play after the storm system passes.
