Broncos Tied For 8th After First Day At Callaway Golf Invitational

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's golf team had a nice first day at the Callaway Golf Invitational at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., and are tied for 8th place out of 15 teams after the first 36 holes of play. Santa Clara had combined scores of 304 and 291, and are led by Scott Travers, who is tied for 13th having shot rounds of 72 and 74.

Also near the top of the leaderboard is freshman Jimmy Cacho, who is tied for 19th, and just one stroke behind Travers after shooting rounds of 77 and 70. Junior Blair Myers is tied for 32nd with rounds of 76 and 74, and Garrett Logan is 41st with rounds of 73 and 73. Alex Bon had a rough day and finished 73rd with rounds of 80 and 81.

After a decent opening round, the Broncos turned up the heat in the second round, dropping 13 strokes off their team combined score. Cacho's second round was seven strokes better than his first, and Logan's was six.

The Broncos will be back at it on Tuesday for the final round of the Callaway Golf Invitational.
