San Diego, Calif. - Santa Clara had an excellent second day at the Aztec Invitational on Saturday, posting a 9-3 record in singles and a 3-3 doubles mark against No. 49 San Diego State and No. 56 Arizona State. Bobby Rasmussen continued his outstanding play with two singles wins and a doubles win to push his record for the weekend to 4-0 in singles and doubles.
Brian Brogan's brother, Patrick, played against the Broncos for Arizona State. He was defeated by Tommy Hicks in singles, while the Broncos doubles tandem of Jan Macek and Rasmussen beat Brogan and Ryan Waits.
"Today was a really good day for us," said head coach George Husack. "We set two goals for the weekend: focus on making the right moves in matches and let the results take care of themselves, and second, to maintain a steady level of competitive energy and vocal support on all courts. We certainly accomplished both last night (in doubles vs. SDSU) and today (against both SDSU and ASU). We will have the same thing in mind going into tomorrow's matches."
