Head coach George Husack, on win: "I am almost speechless. Today was our best match of the season and it was a huge win. The doubles point was big again. We probably played our best doubles of the year with good serving and great movement. We are unbeaten when we win the doubles point."
Husack, on team's effort: "The grit and determination of the guys was incredible. It was probably my most exciting match as a head coach. We really stared defeat in the face today but everyone fought back and we pulled it out. Brian Brogan was great and Jay Wong won a big one for us. Tommy Hicks just hung in there throughout his match and he had an unbelievable comeback. I am very proud of the effort. The guys deserved the win."
Sophomore Tommy Hicks, on his match: "I just had to hang in there and keep battling. I have been in a lot of tight matches in my life and this year, so I had been through it before. Having that experience really helped me today. I never felt out of it."
Hicks, on crowd: "There was a great crowd out there and it was an incredible feeling when I won my match. After I hit a forehand winner in the last game, the crowd noise gave me chills down my spine. It was great to play in that kind of atmosphere."
Hicks, on importance of the win for the team: "This match was just huge. It gives us a ton of confidence and it shows what kind of team we have. The doubles teams played amazing tennis and everyone just played hard today."
Hicks, on his season: "I have had a bit of an up and down year, but today I put it together and was able to get a win. I just want to keep on playing well and try and be consistent."
Freshman Jay Wong, on his match: "I was up against a very good opponent today. I thought that I played pretty well today but he really pushed me so you have to give him credit for his play. He made me raise my level and I was able to pull out a close one. I got a big break in the second set that kind of gave me some momentum."
Wong, on team: "Everyone played hard today and really supported each other. A couple of points here or there and we would have lost the match, but no one backed down."
Wong, on crowd: "There was a big crowd on the hill next to my court and that really helped me. In those big points it is really a big help to have people cheering you on."
Sophomore Brian Brogan, on doubles play: "Jay (Wong) and I were a bit up and down earlier this year, but recently we have been playing well together. We are both serving well and we have returned well also. If we are serving well, we feel like we just need one break of serve to win and that is what we got today. The more we play together, the better we get."
Brogan, on his recent good form: "A few weeks ago, I think that I was mentally tired and I was inconsistent. However, I am now playing a lot smarter and I am returning the ball well against the big servers that I have played. I also think that I am striking the ball as well as I ever have. I just want to keep that going."
Brogan, on match: "Today was a grind. It was back and forth all day, but everyone stuck together and pulled it out. Tommy (Hicks) really played some unbelievable tennis against a very solid player to clinch it."
Brogan, looking ahead to Stanford: "If we compete like we did today then I think we have a great chance to beat them. However, they are a very good team and it will be a tough match."
Brogan, on bouncing back after Cornell loss: "We got a little flustered against Cornell, but we really bounced back with a great win against BYU. We shut them down and that got our momentum going again. Every match is crucial now if we want to get that No. 2 seed in the WCC tournament and keep our NCAA hopes alive."
