SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's golf team continues spring play at the San Diego State Aztec Invitational on Feb. 15-17 at the Salt Creek Golf Course in Chula Vista.

The Salt Creek Golf Course is laid out over 6,083 yards and holds a par of 72. The Broncos will compete against 17 other teams including West Coast Conference foe San Francisco and local rival San Jose State. It will be a 54-hole tournament over the course of three days. The Broncos hope to build upon their eighth place finish last weekend at the Braveheart Classic in Beaumont.

"The team will be tested as the field in San Diego will be the toughest we have faced all year," said Bronco head coach Polly Schulze. "Salt Creek Golf Course is a tough layout so we look forward to challenge. Sophomore Miki Ueoka will be coming off another strong second place finish in Riverside and I am sure she looks forward to facing some of the best players in the nation. Junior Kimberly Bedolla is excited about making her first team start for the Broncos. We usually play only two days of competition so the three days of 18 holes will be a first for us. We will be working hard this week to prepare for this trip."

Ueoka shot a two-over par 74 to take second place and was only one stroke off of the low-score of the day. It was her fourth top-10 finish in five tournaments this season for the sophomore from Hawaii.

Six of the 17 teams participating in the tournament are ranked in the top 50 in the nation by GolfWeek. Live stats will be available on www.golfstat.com, as well as via a link on www.goaztecs.com.
