ELK GROVE, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's golf team, paced by sophomore Miki Ueoka, enters the final round of the 2009 Sacramento State Invitational in first place. The Broncos compiled a team score of 310, which is one stroke a head of second place Montana State. Individually, Ueoka is tied with MSU's Kelly Gillum for first place at three-over par 75.

"I'm really excited for our program," said head coach Polly Schulze. "The weather is rather cold and really windy on the course, but our athletes did a great job today. Hopefully we can pull out the win on Tuesday, so we can have one team title in the fall and the spring. We're also looking forward to see if Miki can hold on and bring home her third individual title."

Sophomore Katie Sharpe and freshman Meaghan Kari are also in the top 10 after the first day. Sharpe is in fifth place at five-over 77, while Kari is tied for sixth place at six-over 78. Freshman Tammy Surtees is tied for 11th placed at eight-over 80 and junior Erin Sullivan rounds out the Bronco competitors tied for 18th at 10-over 82. This is the first time this season the Broncos have had all of their golfers in the top-20.

The Broncos won their first team title of the season at the Boise State Bronco Invitational in October. Ueoka was also the individual medalist at the event. Ueoka earned her second career title at the Fresno State Invitational in February.

Santa Clara brings the Sac State Invitational to a close with a 10 a.m. start on Tuesday, March 24.
