Santa Clara, Calif. - Sophomore Miki Ueoka was named to the National Golf Coaches Association's (NGCA) All-West Region Team. It's the first time a Bronco women's golfer has made the list. The NGCA was formed in 1983 as an organization to promote participation in women's collegiate golf. The NGCA represents the best coaches in women's golf with a membership of over 400 coaches of Division I, II, III and NAIA collegiate programs.

It has been a busy few months for Ueoka as she recently qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship on May 26 in her native state of Hawaii. She rattled off a sizzling five-under par 67 on the final day to lead the way at the sectional qualifier at the Wailua Golf Course. Ueoka shot an even-par 72 on the first day of qualifying and earned medalist honors at the qualifier by two shots. Only three golfers advanced to the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship at the Red Tail Golf Club in Devans, Mass., on June 22-27.

Last month, Ueoka became the first-ever SCU women's golfer to qualify for the NCAA Regionals. She earned three individual titles in 2008-09, while helping the Broncos to two team titles. Ueoka earned her second West Coast Conference honor as she received first-team All-WCC accolades after tying for second at the WCC Championships in April. She earned her first collegiate title at the Boise State Bronco Invitational this past October and earned her second title at the Fresno State Golf Classic in February after posting the lowest round ever by an SCU women's golfer with a scorching 68. Her final title of the year came at the Sacramento State Invitational in March. It was her second straight win and Ueoka was named the WCC's Player of the Month in February and March. Off the greens, Ueoka owns a 3.49 cumulative grade-point average as a bio-chemistry major and was recently named to ESPN the Magazine's Academic All-District VIII third team, as announced by CoSIDA.
