SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball released its 2023 schedule encompassing 53 games including 25 at Santa Clara Softball Stadium. The Broncos will play against two teams that qualified for the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
Santa Clara opens its season Feb. 10-12 at the UC Davis/Sacramento Tournament against the likes of Rutgers, Utah Valley, Seattle and UC Davis. The first game will take place on Feb. 10 at Sacramento State as the Broncos face Rutgers.
The following weekend, the Broncos travel to El Paso, Texas for five tournament games hosted by UTEP, facing Buffalo and Texas Tech on Feb. 17 followed by New Mexico and UTEP on the 18th and concludes play against Texas Tech on the 19th.
The home opener against 2022 NCAA Tournament qualifier, Stanford, awaits on Feb. 22 in a midweek contest.
Santa Clara will co-host along with San José State, the Silicon Valley Classic 1 Tournament from Feb. 24-26. A total of eight games will be hosted on the Mission Campus with the Broncos playing in five of those games welcoming schools such as UC Santa Barbara, Sacramento State, Northern Colorado and Saint Mary's.
Turning the calendar to March, the Broncos head to Hawaii to play one of three tournaments in the month. On March 3, the Broncos face Utah and tournament host, Hawaii, and the following day, take on St. Bonaventure and Niagara.
The next tournament is the second edition of the Silicon Valley Classic Tournament from March 10-12. The tournament will once again be co-hosted with San José State, as this time, CSUN, Utah State and UC Davis will be part of it.
On March 17-19, the Broncos head to Pocatello, Idaho and face North Dakota State and tournament host, Idaho State, for five games over the three day tournament.
The Broncos play midweek games in between each of the tournaments, playing CSU Bakersfield on March 7, Rhode Island on March 14 in doubleheaders and Dartmouth on March 15 for a single game, all at home.
Santa Clara closes out March heading down to Fresno State on March 29 for a twin bill.
Five West Coast Conference series take place in the month of April starting with a home series against BYU on April 7-8. The Broncos will also welcome Pacific (April 22-23) and 2022 NCAA Tournament qualifier LMU (April 29-30), with the latter being the final home games of the season.
The Broncos will travel to Saint Mary's (April 15-16) and San Diego (May 6-7) in the final series of the 2023 campaign. In between the WCC contests, SCU play at Cal (April 19) and San José State (April 26).
