Lauren LaHood Named WCC Softball Player of the Week

SAN MATEO, Calif. – Santa Clara softball redshirt senior Lauren LaHood was named West Coast Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.  LaHood hit two home runs and drove in 10 runs during the Silicon Valley Classic I Tournament over the weekend to help the Broncos finish with a 3-2 record. 

In Friday's game against UC Santa Barbara, the left-handed hitting LaHood blasted a three-run home run in the fifth to break the 3-all tie in the Broncos 9-4 win.  She also drew a bases loaded walk later in the game for her fourth RBI of the game. 

The next day, facing UCSB once again, LaHood belted a grand slam as part of a five-run opening inning en route to a 7-0 shutout victory. 

For the week, LaHood posted a slashline of .333/.444/.733

It is the first such honor for LaHood.

The Broncos next play at the Hawai'i Spring Fling Tournament starting on March 3.
