SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The accolades continue to pour in for Santa Clara softball player Ashley Trierweiler who was named second-team All-American by D1Softball on Tuesday, becoming the first Bronco player ever to be named All-American by the publication.
The recognition follows a first-team All-West Coast Conference and a NFCA Division I first-team All-Pacific Region selection since the season ended earlier in the month.
In the spring, the Bronco senior finished second nationally amongst Division I players in batting average at .486 and third with an .584 on-base percentage.
Trierweiler led the WCC in both of those categories along with runs (50), hits (71), doubles (14), walks (34) and total bases (108) in all games to help lift the Broncos to their first back-to-back 20 win seasons since 2005 and 2006. She started in all 49 games at centerfield and had a 21-game hit streak as well as a 37-game on-base streak.
The Belmont, Calif. native holds the WCC career records with the highest career (.440) and single season batting average (.486).
Along with her on the field production, Trierweiler was equally impressive off the diamond as she served as the student representative for: Called Up, SCU's Christian athlete ministry group; a member of Alpha Sigma Nu, a Jesuit honor society; co-president of Kappa Delta Pi, an International Education honor society; and co-president of the SCU Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
The Santa Clara University class of 2023 valedictorian semifinalist will graduate this spring with a double major in child studies and psychology.
