Volleyball Wins 3-1 At Portland; Travels to Gonzaga Saturday

The Santa Clara volleyball team won 3-1 at Portland on Thursday night, moving its record to 13-5 and 3-1 in West Coast Conference action. Set scores were 23-25, 25-23, 25-12 and 25-15.  Portland is now 6-13 and 0-5 in the WCC.

The Broncos travel to Spokane, Wash. for a Noon match at Gonzaga on Saturday.

Santa Clara .264 while collecting 52 kills, eight team blocks, 53 digs, 13 aces and seven service errors.  Portland hit .154 with six team blocks, 43 digs and five aces.  

"Portland played really hard tonight. We made a lot of errors in the first couple of games, but we settled down and played together. We played a lot more aggressively in the third and fourth games and that was good to see," said Bronco head coach Jon Wallace. "We served the ball really tough. Maybe not in the first game, but the rest of the match we served really well." 

"Megan played really well again. It's nice to see Lexi, Kayla and Kat play well offensively as well.  I thought both setters played really well," said Wallace.

Megan Anders hit .500 with 13 kills (1 e, 24 att.), a block solo and four block assists.  Katherine Douglas collected 10 kills, five aces and five digs.  Lexi Williamson also had 10 digs and two block assists.  Haley Cameron and Kayla Lommori both scored seven kills.  Alyssa Anderson had another double double with 27 assists and 13 digs.  Chelsea Heier had 14 assists and four digs.

Ariel Usher had 13 kills, hitting .303 with nine digs.  Kate Mardesich had 11 digs.  Autumn Wedan had 11 kills, but 10 errors in 35 attempts.
